I went to the Fall Swap Meet a few weeks ago in Louisville KY. I was walking around looking at vehicles for sale and came upon a 1942 COE Ford. I walked around the front of it and saw the SOLD sign, but what was neat was the Marmon-Herrington frame it was sitting on. The first thought I had was "I hope they don't junk it" This truck was a fire dept tanker with low miles.
A few days after I was telling my close friend Leonard Krebs who has 2 1942 COE Fords about it and he told me he was talking to another mutual friend that told him the frame was for sale! I could tell he wanted to get it, so I called our friend and he told me where it was (in town). I told him to tell the guy it was sold! I called Leonard back and told him we were partners on this truck frame. We picked it up last Saturday and we now have a complete frame with both axles, driveline, transfer case, transmission, later model engine(59AB?) and radiator on decent tires.
Congrat's, and welcome to the M-H family. Too bad it got its cab and clip robbed, probably to go on a modern chassis. I'd suggest you get to know Chuck Mantiglia at Chuck's Trucks for M-H guidance and parts. He's the guru. Stu
