I'm getting ready to have the tranny flused on my torqshift. From what i've read here before, its best to let Ford do it so they can hot flush it, which opens the thermostat and gets most of the fluid out. I've read good things about AMSOIIL and am considering having that put in my truck.
1) Since i know not 100% of the ford fluid would be removed, is it ok to have the 2 fluids mixed?
2) Because the fluid is flushed with a machine, how many quarts would i need? I'm assuming extra would be needed since its a flush and not just a drain and replace
3) The guy at the service desk I spoke with on the phone said I could bring in my own fluid...do you know if ford normally allows this? I would think they wouldnt
4) The guy also told me that the tranny filter up front is not replaced, that is a seperate service charge. Do you always have this replaced?
Any extra input would be appreciated. Should I just stick with ford fluid? By the way, I have always had the tranny fluid changed at regular 30k intervals from ford. It now has 101k on the truck Thanks!

1. I drained/refilled my own fluid, I did not have a heated flush done. I used Amsoil for the refill. I've had no "mixing" issues for the 10K miles since I did it. (this reminds me, I need to drain/refill again and install my '08 pan)
2. I have no idea, maybe ask the shop doing it?
3. Dunno, see #2
4. The front filter is THE one you want changed....the one inside the trans pan is basically a screen to catch large objects...as in bolts, gears, etc.
Note, some people may poo poo on the use of Amsoil. Be prepared for that....but don't be afraid to use it
Wow, that is rediculous! The two times I've taken my truck to ford no one ever told me that the front filter was not changed. Now that you say that is the important one, i'm really surprised they didnt mention it. For one, its obviously important for the truck. 2, they can make extra money by selling it to me! I only found out about them not changing that front filter because a friend told me about it today, then I called.
Which AMSOIL did you use? I used AMSOIL's website to filter down to my make and model, and it listed 2 differnt options. A google search listed a third option that says its for LV/SP even though the website didnt pull it up.
