A friend of mine has a 2001 F350 Diesel, her spider gear blew apart causing some damage. Her Dad "Donated" his wrecked 2004 F250 5,4 gasser as a parts rig.....
So the F350 axle is "D1" 3.73 LS (axle tag 3s409H 3l73 10 5 1f13)
The F250 is "C1" 3.73 LS
Will the axle work for parts, or can she do a complete swap? What issues will arise?
I tried researching for the answer and found allot of info, but not that exact answer...
Many Thanks in advance
Just swap the whole axle since the gears are the same and you have it, no reason to try and pull the gears out and swap them. The pinion yoke may be different but it's only 1 nut to change just do it while the are both out.
I second the motion, swap the whole thing. Some trucks had fine thread lug studs and some coarse not sure what year they changed it. But that isn't a big deal either.
Thanks for the reply. Should have the wrecked truck here this afternoon going to just recheck some things then go for it. Tired of looking at broken Super duty's in the yard.....
