anyone replace there gas tank with a bigger one. i have a 95 f150 4x4 5.0L- only has one tank- seems like i'm always filling it up. i'd like to drop in a larger engine, but i can barely pass a gas station as it is. i'd also like to last abit longer at our local mud pit before having to refuel. thanks for any help.
i find it hard that you need to fill up that often. my truck has 2 gas tanks but only one works and i hardly have to fill it up. what im doin is replacing my gas tanks with fuel cells to put in the bed so i wont have to worry about smashing a gas tank on a rock.
i'm going to swap to 4.10 gears in about two months, how bad will that affect it and will 4.10 gears handle 35 x 12.50' s. i think i have a 8.8" rear end, is it worth upgrading to a 9". i'm new at this so i appreciate your imput.
I've heard that you an remove the spare and stick a Bronco gas tank in there. I've never tried it so I would do a little research before going out and buying and tanks.
You can put a bronco tank in place of a rear tank, you loose your spare tire mount but oh well. make sure the tank's pump is good all other things marry up, except some later model trucks use a four pin circular plug and pig tail vs the earlier four pin tank plug, minor set back a little wiring can fix get a pig tail and or plug with the pump to make sure you dont have to run back. Use your existing brackets, measure and bend to fit then get a little more metal it will take i think about 10 more inches a few bends to tuck the tank in tightly. Your fuel lines will slide in with a little bit of finess and squeezing so you can see what you are doing. Think that is about all there is to it. I had mine done in about 2 hours.
Hope that helps
Dusty

I put one in my 96 ext cab short bed, and it fit without any pounding. its the same width as your rear frame rails, sits lower and is shorter length wise than your old tank. roughly about 8" lower. Does your truck use a rear mount tank or a front frame rail tank though? better check on that before doing any thing too extensive.
