4" lift

well im thinking about a 4" lift for my 90 4X4. have owned it for years now and seeing as all the newer truck are sitting higher id join in. like to see what some trucks look like with a lift. ive got the 4.9 and figure i might have to stick with 31" tires so not to bog down going up hill, which we really dont have to many of here. also wonder which would be a decent kit to buy, id like to still have a decent ride.

Here are a couple of pictures of my '95 F-150 with about 3" of lift and 33/9.50-15 tires. Set up like that it basically ends up looking like an F-250. I think the lift on mine was Tuff Country (or something like that). I was happy enough with it (although I did need to add a drop pitman arm that they hadn't included). That was back in '98 though, so I don't know how applicable my specifics are anymore.

Going with a 4" lift and sticking with 31" tires might look a little odd, with a lot of space above the tire. If you want to stick with a 31" I'd maybe aim a little lower with the lift.

your truck look clean. kinda of afraid of going with 33" because of the 4.9 and 3:55 gears.

It ought to look clean, it was only about 4 years old when those pictures were taken.

I don't have any direct experience with the 300 six, but from what I've heard, it's a low-end torquer. I don't think I'd be concerned about 3.55s and 33" tires with one. But take that for what it's worth, just being my guess.

You could also do a 2" leveling lift. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has some good looking lifts, if you decide to go 4"

If you want it to ride nice, buy good shocks, Bilsteins.

i did the 2" leveling kit, springs in the front, did a tidder todder effect, instead of it being 2" higher in the back it was little over 1" higher, then did 2" lowering shackles on the back, same thing, now im almost level but all the newer trucks sit so much higher than the older trucks, well i guess im having truck height envy. ive seen a couple older 90's with what looks like 4" lifts and they look pretty damn good.
