Fuel Filter
My 66 352 had a filter on the bottom of the fuel pump, the 292 doesn't.
I also do not have an inline filter between the pump and carb. The fuel line is hard metal, no rubber at all.
Where did the factory put the fuel filter?

Sounds like your fuel pump was replaced by one without a filter. Easy enough. Go buy one with a built-in filter if you want the OE look. If I go to Napa online and choose 1964 with 292 I see this one.

Otherwise, add an inline filter if you want the custom look.

Almost everything under the hood is FOMOCO, so I would like to keep as many oem parts as possible for as long as possible.
Also, is there a screen at the carb that I can clean?
I have no idea how many years there hasn't been a filter on the fuel system.

I wouldn't have a clue what the parts store has to offer. Likely not FOMOCO, however.
No screen that I know of. GM carbs like the Quadrajet had a small brass or paper filter where the line entered the carb, but never seen the like on these old Fords. The filter was in the pump like was mentioned. No other filter that I know of.
If it is running fine then probably no issues have developed from running without a filter. Get one in the system and hopefully that's the extent. The carb itself is the only thing affected if anything, so unless you are having problems it might be OK.
Since it sounds like your current fuel pump isn't stock (no surprise there) then going with another non-stock item probably not the worst thing. You'll never find the stock fuel pump that came on this truck, anyway, if it's not there.

Also at the inlet of the carb has a small screen that can been cleaned out, it fits into the end of the fuel line going into the carb. And using the "stock" looking fuel pump with a filter attached is probably the best bet.
Good luck.

Some auto parts store replacements pumps do not have a filter, so the only choice you have is to install an in-line filter...which would be spliced into the pump to carb fuel line.

1965: Ford introduced the "Quality Twins" Oil Filters and Oil in one quart cans. The oil filters were gold, as were the 1 quart cans of oil. The "Spin On" fuel filter canister was also gold.
It came in a Ford box with a Ford p/n. The pump is a Carter.
It has the canister on the bottom.
Since I currently have no filter, should I take the top off the carb and look inside when I replace the pump? Im wondering if I have any garbage in there.
My 65 Mustang that has a 200/AT has the same pump except the filter is on top on the pump. It looks like you lose about a cup of gas every time you remove it.
