92 Aerostar Stalls When Cold
My Aerostar 3.0L stalls every time I put it in gear if the weather outside is below zero or colder (Celcius). If I try to start it immediately after the stall it refuses and behaves as if it is flooded. It will crank forever and never start unless I depress the throttle to the floor and crank. With the pedal to the metal it eventually starts and if I'm "lucky" enough to get an exhaust backfire it will start right away. I have replaced the ACT and the coolant sensor, cleaned the MAF, replaced the plugs, wires, and cap, and cleaned the throttle body as per Fords TSB. I have taken it to our Ford dealer here and the techs say there were no errors codes found. Apparently it stores the last 12 starts or so. With that I assume it's not ECM but rather mechanical.
It is definately a temperature related problem since any temp from 10 degress and above (Celcius again) it never happens. If I idle the van for about 10 minutes the problem goes away and it runs great...28mpg.
