I am rebuilding my hood latch panels and I need a few measurements. The female piece that the dowel goes into (pictured) is completely destroyed on mine, I'm currently at work on an oil rig so have access to all the gear to make another one but I don't have the piece with me to measure it.
Can someone give me the diameter of the flat flange part and the inner diameter of the smaller necked down part please. I'm planning to turn one up out of solid shaft.

I measured the one on my 1950 F-3 The outside of the flange is 2 3/8 inch, the inside diameter is 1 1/8 up into the necked down area. The part is 13/16 inch tall top to bottom. I also measured the opening dimension from the inside of the flange to the locking bar which is 3/4 inch. I supose you could make it completely round and then put a cut in it for the latch to work in.
Hope this helps. Maybe you need the whole plate new. Patrick
Thanks Patrick, that's exactly what I was looking for, some quality time on the lathe coming up for me. I'd buy a new part if one was available but I don't believe anyone reproduces them, at least not that I have seen.
