I want to pick up an Explorer disc brake rear end but I want the narrow one. Ive looked here and online but can't find a solid answers. Really I just need to know the last year of the narrow I think its 2000 but not sure. My 2001 Sport trac is still the narrow and drum I think it changed in 2002. Going to use this for my 1968 F100 build sorry forgot that info!

Reason: add words
The Explorer rear end prior to 1995 had drum brakes. The Explorer from 2002-present has an IRS rear end.
The Explorer 8.8" solid axle housing rear end with disc brakes, that you are looking for, would come from a 1995-2001 model.
These ('95-'01) all have 31-spline axles and disc brakes. Not all came with a Traction-Lok differential but, 3.55, 3.73 and 4.10 ratios are pretty common in them.
The '96 Explorer rear end I have stashed back doesn't have Traction-Lok but, it does have 3.55 gears. --Traction-Lok differentials for them are relatively cheap to purchase and install, if the rear end you get doesn't have one.
