I've looked till my eyes are blurry and none of the delete instructions make this clear. On the coolant outlet from the oil filter base, there is what appears to be a removable "flange" over the aluminum hose nipple. At least it moves on mine. This "flange" has holes in the neck that appear to be a potential source of a coolant leak. Does this get removed before the blue coolant pipe gets installed onto the nipple? None of the install kits even mention it. I tightened the worm clamp over mine and it deformed significantly over this flange.
Sorry for the delay. Had to take a few pictures. See below. See the shinny "sleeve" on the oil cooler coolant outlet? I can twist it and it appears to be able to slide off. After looking at it this morning, I think I should remove it. Is this a sleeve or something associated with the OEM hose clamp rings?
Should I remove it before installing the delete hose.
Last, have you ever seen the offset between the 180 hose and the coolant outlet from the oil cooler? I've got the EGR exhaust plate bolted in place and this is the offset I have. The intake also has four bolts loosely bolted in place too. This is a late 2004, and I think the late 04 has a shorter EGR chamber (or up pipe stub) than the 2005 and up.
Looks to be the inside part of the OEM EGR cooler hose. Check the hose you pulled off that connection.
Pull that off.
Well, I thought it was part of the OEM clamp assembly and it should be removed, but I couldn't find any information referencing it. I am not familiar with those OEM clam bands.
I may try and bend the pipe to get it aligned as long as the supplier will refund my money if I bend it too much.
Yup, looks like the J tube got tweaked in shipping or something. Do an advanced search in the 6.0 forum for "blue hose". You'll find several descriptions on how to lock it on, it's basically line it up, slide it on and twist. The little booger is expensive but it don't leak if you get it on right. The nipple it fits on isn't the proper size for regular hose and clamps although some guys have gotten it to work.
