I am new to this forum, I am looking for a older truck. There is a 75 f250 near me for sale. It started out as a farmers who bought it new, had it in barn and just for fun. Then he sold it to dealership. The dealership then sold it to the guy who has it now. The guy who bought it buys older cars, fixes the small problems then sells them. This truck doesn't have a spot of rust on body. Has a 390 with 4 speed on the floor. Has like new 37 inch tires and cepek wheels. Winch, sprayed bed liner, built front and back bumpers. Has 97,000 miles I believe. Wants 13 grand for it. I am looking for a fun truck. Not necessarily practical but something I can trust. This truck is clean, new carpets and seat, has new powersteering pump and starter. Is this worth it? I am new to the older trucks, I love the look of them all. Is there something I should look for on it? Is there a problem that I should check on it? Is this a good price? Any and all info is appreciated!
13 grand? Well that all depends on if YOU think its worth that amount of money and how bad you want it. For 13K it better be clean, clean ,clean, flawless and everything in top notch shape. You said no rust so there shouldn't be a paint blister anywhere. Check the rear fender wells and cab floor for starters. Myself, if i was able to pull off such a marvelous feat I'd wave 10 thou at him. Or Richard Rawlins the heck out of him. That's where you really lowball the guy and you meet in the middle. Probably can't post any pics yet.....i see you have only 1 post so far.
I only have 1 post because I just made account, been searching for someone in same boat as me but couldn't find a thread like this so I created one. There is one paint blister on the rear left fender. For the axels if I keep the bigger tires should I contemplate upgrading axels? The seller does not know what kind are in it. Is there a easy way to check?
Welcome to FTE, I am sure there are alot of other good trucks for way less money. Sound like a nice rig but 13K it had better be PERFECT for that kind of money. I MEAN PERFECT!
Make sure it is a 390 and not a 360, if you are really serious. Measuring the stroke is the best and I believe only way to really do that. That means pull a plug and dowel rod it...if the owner is a mechanic and really want to sake it he shold have no problem that.
Page 2 thread 13 for some buying a Ford truck advice.
As far as 13 K for a truck that old, it had better be very nice. 5K to 8K can get you 2 nice trucks. I would decide what your main use is going to be DD, weekend show truck (sounds like an option), back woods 4 wheeling, wood hauler?
Things that would be a deal breaker for me no A/C .. No integrated power steering .. and probably no front disk brakes .. You don't have to worry about that truck going anywhere soon for $13k
I agree with the other guys.
For 13K it should be perfect.
Just taking a look at the engine compartment pic tells me it's not.
Could be a very nice truck but 13 is pushing it.
There are some nice trucks out there for less than 10K.
But if you love it go over it with a fine tooth comb then talk him down.
Didn't see where you live but it doesn't have factory air, the jack is gone, wiring is pretty shabby, and the horn relay doesn't seem to have a wire to it.
Start there
Good luck
Photo of the engine... Don't want to post picture of the outside hehe
Aftermarket air cleaner & valve covers, emissions equipment removed, jack missing from clamp on left fender apron. Carburetor and intake manifold appear to be aftermarket.
Truck has original Ford/Saginaw integral P/S, it also has disc brakes...as they were standard equipment on F250 2WD's beginning in 1973.
IMO, from just what I can see in the engine compartment...13 grand is way too much money for this truck.

It is 4wd, has locking hubs. He said today that now he doesn't know for sure if it is a 390. I appreciate all of this advise! This is my first buying experience of an old ford and all of you are making it easier. I looked online and thought this was a great deal but now I am seeing not so much, doesn't have front disc's I don't believe, and also no A/C. But A/C is the last of my worried. I am located in NY turbohunter
Hey Gunny if it's near Ithaca,NY I might be able to check it out for you. I'm not in the market for anymore projects....so you don't have to worry about me scarfing it up.
