I need some advise on what to do with my 04 6.0 i did egr delete, oil cooler, and heads with studs a year ago. I got heads from ford.it quit on me last week so i took it my buddy and he said he found some metal in the pump ( I'm not sure which one dont know if it has two) he said the one at crank shaft pulley that takes a 12 mm alan head, he clean it out said it had a value in and was stuck and would not build up pressure for injectors, when he did that it started right up so i went got drove home about 15 miles it did fine until i got in to go some where it would not start so i pulled the 12 mm out and a little roller bearing about a half inch long fell out and looking at you tube there aint but one place it would come from and is a lifter, so we know what that means my question is would you build that motor, get one from ford or has anybody heard any thing about Black water engines in virgina if they where good or not. i just dont know what to do any advise would be appreciated much so
Whoooh there before you go buying a engine.
The LPOP may have metal in it but that ball bearing is part of the pressure regulater not part of a lifter. There should have also been a spring falling out when the plug was removed. Needle bearings are tiny about 1/32 Dia.or smaller and 1/16 long. About the size of a pencil lead.
Check your filter for metal shaveings that will catch most of the metal before it gets into the engine. Drain your oil pan and see what comes out.
If a lot of metal didn't get past the filter you may be able to salvage the engine.
Definately need to change the LPOP and maybe the front cover as well.
