November Any-topic Around SoCal Thread

November for me, always feels like the year is nearing an end. Lots of holidays and things to do. We can talk about them here if you want.

Well, wifey had pity on me and got the house re painted inside while I was gone.
Had to do penance by putting it back together the last two days.
All good.
While I was up at camp my buddy brought a few mounts to me from the last two years.
Look good against the new paint.
Gotta hand it to the wife, she drives a 61 four speed and let's me hang dead animals on the wall.
Think I'll keep 'er.

How's everyone doing? Yup November, got to go Christmas shopping, don't want to be a procrastinator.
This is a great month. Being a VET I get the 11th off, seeing how my birthday is the next day, I'll take that day off also.

My birthday also falls close to Veteran's Day.

As I've said before here on FTE, in all my working years, I never took my birthday off, but I ALWAYS remember vet's by making it my personal holiday.

If we don't remember us, who will?

I have written here before, I am never so proud as when I am identified as a vet.

This year I will be on the road in transit back home, so I won't be taking any
"time off".

Vets, don't forget to stop at a restaurant that gives vets free lunches on Veteran's day. I plan on hitting up Texas Roadhouse, maybe even Applebees.

I tried that once.

Didn't wish to wait for an hour to get seated.

My daddy told me six-plus decades ago, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch".

And, it's true.

If you want to be a cheapskate and not tip, you can get a free lunch at Texas Roadhouse. Applebees gives you the lunch for free, but you still pay for drinks. As for waiting an hour to get seated, I have no problem with that. Only happens once a year. I can put up with waiting an hour for a free steak.
