Not good. He is comatose and the prognosis of him ever coming out of the coma is very slim to not at all. If he did, I am sure that there has been a lot of damage done to his brain from the stroke or strokes. The doctor was going to have a feeding tube put in while my mom along with the support of us kids make some very tough decisions. My dad does have a DNR in place so the main decision is whether to keep him on a feeding tube or not.
Damn. Just sucks getting to the point where we're going to lose our parents. I'm sorry, bud.
Thanks Pat. My dad is the only surviving sibling on his side of the family but he has made it to 92 before this happened. He was actually in really good health up into his mid 80's when he started to have some issues that were the onset of the Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, then his hip broke and he ended up in the nursing home.
I always wonder if this year, will it be my dads last birthday, or his last Thanksgiving, or Christmas. He's been going slowly down hill, between his dimentia, and fighting off his leukemia.

I will say this, it sure has made me start wondering the same thing. My wife lost her dad last year about a week before Thanksgiving. We knew that he was having health issues but not to the severity that they were. We got a phone call on a Friday night from my MIL stating that he had just moved into a hospice setting earlier that day and he passed overnight and he was 64.
