intermitten starting issues
Are you having problems with warm/hot start? It sounds like it's turning over fine when warm/hot, but takes a lot of cranking before it starts. Is that right? You say it's staving for gas but have you measured fuel pressure? Can you hear the fuel pump run? Does it eventually start or do you have to let it cool completely? When it's acting up, what happens if you put the pedal to the floor and try to start it? Does it start more easily? Do you have any codes? Do you know if it's current on maintenance (plugs, wires, air filter, etc.)?
Any additional information you can provide will be helpful.
As Mikeman has suggested, any additional clues you could post, might be helpful in where best to look next.
With it seeming to be a hot restart problem, it sorta suggests a heat soak problem, so engine control things affected by a heat soak should be on your suspect list. Things like an acting out under hood fuel pump power relay, which are common problem parts(try swapping it for the AC power relay) if you suspect that problem, vapor lock from out of spec gasoline, fuel pressure regulator, weak fuel pump, battery that's not up to snuff & acts out after a heat soak, are some things that come to mind, but as Mikeman has said, more clues would be helpful & if you've scanned the computer for set, or pending trouble codes, post All code Numbers, as they can provide good trouble shooting clues.
I see your in RI, so your area has probably been switched over to winter vapor pressure fuel & your 94 has a return type fuel system, where the unused fuel is returned to the fuel tank, so if you've been running it low on fuel, the fuel in the tank will get warmer & warmer as the unused hot fuel from the engine compartment carries that heat back to the fuel in the tank. If you've also had warmer than usual weather, that along with lower vapor pressure winter recipe fuel in a near empty tank, can cause the fuel in the engine compartment, fuel rail, tank, or lines, to get hot enough to boil & cause vapor lock, which can cause hard warm re-starts or running stalls. It can also cause the fuel pump to run hotter than normal, as the pump is immersed in fuel & depends on the fuel for cooling, so an over heated fuel pump may make for wimpy fuel pressure on a hot re-start. It's recommended that we refuel at 1/4 tank remaining, to keep our fuel pump happy.
Seeing as it has well over 100K miles, is it up to date on All past & present due scheduled maintenance, like air & fuel filters, plugs wires, O2 sensors, fluids & were the parts OEM, or say they meet or exceed OEM specs????
More thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.
