Tachometer quit working

Tachometer quit working

Well I bumped the wiring going to my trailer brake controller with a screwdriver, it arched. Went to start the truck up, everything else works fine except the tachometer is dead. Did I fry the thing?

I doubt it. The tach takes a really UGLY signal in stride. Check your fuses.

I also highly doubt that arching the TRAILER brake wiring would affect the tach. I have to drive it soon, but will check the fuses later today. Is there a fuse for the tachometer?

Yes. Fuse 18, which is a 15A, powers the warning indicators, seatbelt buzzer, and feedback carb control.

Checked the fuses before I left, blew that fuse wide open. New fuse fixed the problem.

Now just to re do the wire connectors that someone did on the trailer brake controller. They used the standard round crimp connectors but have bare wiring exposed past the connector, and I struck it with the screwdriver on accident.
