2v aussie head valve covers

My wife asked me what I want for Christmas and I told her a dress up kit for my enging. Its a 400 that I plan to put aussie heads on ( have them sitting here frest from tim meyer). My question is about valve covers. Will 400 valve covers bolt on the heads? or do I need to buy valve covers for a 302?

The 302 valve cover is 6 bolt the aussie head is 8 bolt .. So the 351M/400 valve cover (8 bolt) should be the correct choice ..

Although they fit the 302 I think they were made for the 351C motor is my understanding but I must confess I am not that familiar with them ..

Back in the 80s, there was a thing called the Clevor engine which was a Windsor short block with Cleveland heads. Apparently, the Clevor is being resurrected as discussed here:
Clevor Engine - Mustang & Fords Magazine
This article specifically mentions the Aussie Cleveland heads saying:
The Australian Cleveland head offers the best of both worlds--smaller ports (like the 351C-2V head) for low-end torque and closed wedge chambers (like the 351C-4V head) for power increases. Aussie heads are also available from Bush Performance.
This is a good read that, I hope, may answer most of your questions.

When I rebuilt the 400 in my 77, I did a lot of reading about the 302 Aussie heads. I do not remember reading anything that said the standard 400 valve covers wouldn't fit.

I ended up using heads from a 71 Galaxy since I found them locally.

The aussie heads are for an Australian specific 302c motor, Cleveland block and a short stroke crank but from the outside it looks just like a 351c.

Think of it as the 351m compared to the 400. All the same but a short stroke. The 302c is not to be confused with the normal 302 here in the US, it shares no more components than a 351c shares with a US 302. The valve covers you need are Cleveland valve covers which would fit a 302c (the motor your aussie heads came off of), 351c, 351m and 400
