Help with engine braking

Had my dually for over 6 months now & loving it more every day! However had a few weeks touring with our caravan (travel trailer to you guys) it's not that heavy (4000lbs) & the truck pulls it easy, we did over 3000 miles through France & Spain with some seriously steep gradients. Uphill no problem, but downhill everything is great until you need to use the brakes, the coast clutch disconnects & you lose your engine braking it doesn't come back in unless you accelerate past 40 mph. I tried just letting it build speed to see if it would come back in but it doesn't. I plan to get a 5er soon (around 12000lbs) & would like better engine braking, is there an easy way keep the coast clutch & convertor locked up? I've had a search around & think that a tuner with a 40/80 tow tune may be the answer but I would like to hear your views on this.

Take it out of OD before you crest the hill. The torque converter locks right up and stays locked - until your speed gets to low, then you're back to needing to get past TCLU speed.

There are decel tunes available, but you have to switch back if you want to accelerate again.

In at least some calibrations, manually locking out OD also engages the coast clutch. A tow tune would accomplish the same thing, and also adjust your shift points to be a little more load friendly.
