Mercury Flat bed question

I've been looking around for a 56 M100 and I found this rig 1956 Mercury Truck | classic cars | Lloydminster | Kijiji

Then I started wondering did the mercury Flat beds say "mercury" like the ford beds say "ford"?

That doesnt look like it was originally a dually truck, so the bed most likely isn't original either. But that is a good question though.

It has 6 lug wheels and that makes it a m350 so it could be a factory dually

Having an original M-1 flatbed truck, I've wondered that myself. If they're out there I'd love to see one. Mine had a flatbed originally but it was a totally different style bed from the Fords. It was all wood with an angle iron framework bolted to the perimeter on 3 sides. I'm assuming it was ordered as a cab and chassis with the flatbed installed by the dealer or the owner after purchase. But I really don't know.

They would have had to swap the front hubs out then wouldn't they? A dually with normal front wheels just screams axle swap to me. Thats why i was questioning it.

1/2 ton are 5 lug and f250 are 8 lug but the f350 were 6 lug.The 9 foot express trucks used rims like whats on the front. Still 6 lug either way which is f350

It screams the same thing to me as well. Definately a swap. That doesn't look like a script bed to me. Hard to tell with that orange light in the corner. Below the side rail on the bed, are those 'tails' the ends of the stakes protruding through the stake pockets, or wood crossmembers? With their angled steel crossmembers, the factory beds don't show anything from this view. Either way, it's a great question about the 'mercury' script. Love to see a photo.

Perhaps the way to tell would be to find Mercury truck literature that shows the back of the Merc flatbed...

Perhaps another way to ascertain if the bed had any script and what script, would be to call the seller. That does not look exactly like any script bed that i've seen. Good looking truck, IMHO.
Yeah, I would expect the same wheels on the front as the rear if unmodified.

With all the talk about tailgates, I also am surprised the script flatbed thing hasn't come up. I get a lot of comments about the merc tailgate on my 9' pickup box.....A Merc script on a stakebed would be awesome. If one was produced, I think we would have seen one by now.......

I too think there would be a pic out there of this if it was ever made, I know if I had one I'd be showing it off
