Yeah, you'd think if there were ever Merc flatbeds made, someone on here would have knowledge of them.
Which brings up the question... would they have had FORD script beds from the factory? Or were the Merc trucks shipped to dealers with no flatbed and dealers installed what they wanted?
I go away for two days and you guys resort to conspiracy theories...
I can confirm that there are no Mercury name stake beds.

I only have part numbers till 1960. I haven't came across any Ford stakebeds in my travels and I'm in the heart of grain country of Canada. Everything has always been third party aftermarket grain boxes.
Thinking about it, it's likely none were made with the Mercury namesake. I imagine Ford script flatbeds were a third party manufacture, and were shipped to dealers as requested.
this brochure says they are "Husky Ford-Built Stake Beds"

Here's a scan from my 1952 Mercury Truck dealer brochure. I've read this a thousand times and looked at the pictures and never realized, but now it seems that perhaps the platform/stake may not have been a factory option on the Mercury M-1. You could get the cab and chassis, but put your own bodies on it.
Thanks for posting the brochure Wayne, That's the proof I was looking for. I agree looks as if they were sold cab and chassis.
