Might as well chime in with everyone else... When I was making the decision to switch to diesel, the "added cost" of the DEF kept being brought up, causing me to have 2nd thoughts. Well...in 24000kms, I've only added to the tank once due to a warning light. I bought the FMPP which covers the DEF when the truck is in for routine maintenance, but on each work order, there isn't more than a liter or two of DEF listed...

Happy Driving!!!

On the "non-delete" side of the fence, I wouldn't give up the DEF, DPF SCR etc for a dirty, smelly exhaust pipe and soot covered side of my toy hauler.
Small price to pay per mile for a clean running truck.

Better "what do I have" would be nice.

Once under half full I have to go at least a 1000 miles to make sure I can actually get 2.5 gallons into the tank.

If I try and add a jug when the 1/2 message comes on, I will end up spilling some down the side of the truck.

I get 1,000 per gallon towing a 38 foot fifth wheel. I get plenty of warning when I need to add some.

I'm using my truck about 80% for towing. I ran out of DEF before getting to 4000 miles. Planning to change the oil at 5000 miles. I bought 5 gallons at my local Ford dealer and added one of the jugs.

With winter coming just remember that DEF will freeze at 13°F. The tank has a heater but the filler hose does not. If you over fill the tank and have DEF in the filler hose it can freeze and crack the hose/fittings.

I always run it a little on the low side during the coldest weather.

If you use the ford fill spout then you cannot overfill it.
