Gauges

Hi guys, been slowly tinkering on the ’58. Got her running but don’t keep it going too long since the water temp gauge is not working.

I went and bought a cheap gauge at Pep Boys today, but it turns out the end that goes into the block is too long and hits something on the inside, so I can’t even get the fitting to the threads.

What gauges have you guys used for your replacements? I think i’ll need a fuel gauge as well, since it does not seem accurate and moves constantly.

Thanks !

Hey Cyclone, just got around to buying the new gauges. Curious about the wiring though. These gauges come with a bit extra wiring than the original had. Do you have a wiring diagram or a quick write up on how you wired everything? Thanks man!

Its easy, just look at the pic I have of the back of the cluster.

Each gauge gets 12v power (red) one to ground (black), & one to each sensor. Run the red to any accessory power wire off the ign switch. Of course, the volt meter only has 2 wires (no sensor)

The lights are the same for ground, with the white going to the original gauge illumination wire from the headlight switch. If I remember, it was a green wire with a bullet connecter.
