The newly acquired '96 F150 had some ratty looking headlights and the local NAPA had the 3M Headlight Restoration system on sale for $12 so I figured why not. It's pretty much a velcro covered sanding pad that fits your drill and some gradually finer abrasive discs finished with a buffing pad and polishing compound. The haze on polycarbonate headlights is apparently the result of UV damage and can theoretically be removed by sanding.
Not theoretically, relatively easily. Definitely worth the $12. I went slow and probably over sanded a bit but the lenses are pretty much crystal clear now - save some small areas near the bottom where there's some raised letters/numbers. Very impressed.
