How much end play is normal or acceptable in the power steering pump? On my pump there is enough that pushed all the way against the pump body the pulley lightly scuffs the bolts on the pump body. My instinct is that's too much and the pump should be replaced. But, being new to Fords I thought I'd check with the brain trust before spending money.
a rotating part making contact with a fastener isn't likely to end well . sounds like time to replace it.
That was my thinking as well. But, as I said above, I'm new to Fords and didn't know if this was normal or not. I think I'll go ahead and change it, since with the front clip and core support off the truck it should be a lot easier.
