Is there a way to set the "overdrive off" as the default
when I hop in the truck???
Rather than tapping the button every time ????
I wish they had put a switch instead of this push button....

I have the same question for my E350 Motorhome. Too bad it is not a toggle switch. I bet some electronic whiz could wire in a toggle switch in place of the pushbutton.
As far as I know, you cannot change the default setting for the OD switch. As for changing the switch to a toggle, you couldn't do that either, as the switch is a momentary switch, so when you press the switch, the PCM recognizes this and disables the OD. You would have to find a programming parameter in the PCM and reprogram it to change the default value. Installing a toggle switch could possibly damage the PCM. I too wish I could leave OD off by default, but I think Ford is trying to keep people from having to remember to turn the OD on when driving for the better mileage.
About a month ago I purchased a 1990 F250 with a 460 and an E4OD tranny. The truck is is excelent condition and I got it for $1700.
The reason for the cheap price was the tranny problem. Overdrive had gone in the tranny. Because of this the guy had unhooked the switch and placed a jumper wire in the plug so the truck would never be in overdrive. This worked ! So if this jumper tells the tranny not to be in overdrive then you should be able to put a toogle on it and break the circut in the jumper and have OD. I am not a tech but this seems like it would work.
About my tranny, I took the jumper out and rehooked the switch. WHen i start the truck I switch it out of OD to start then when i get above 40 MPH I can put it back in OD. Sort of strange as I seem to have all the gears but just can not start out in D when the over drive is engaged.
