Last week my carrier bearing went changed it out had a really bad vibration in the front end. This weekend i took the driveshaft off and made sure the drive shaft was aligned properly and it was not fix that and changed one you joint and greased the slip yoke because it was completely dry. put it all back together and took it for a test drive and the vibration was gone but now i had a grinding noise in the drivers side front tire i removed the front driveshaft still there jacked the truck up and checked the hub assembly and no movement at all removed the locking hubs and took it for a drive. It was a little better but still there. I dont know what it could be. I also changed the transfer case fluid. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If it's a grinding at the wheel it is most likely the hub assembly. I had a grinding noise as well as a humming vibration on the passenger's side front. I couldn't find any issues but everything I read and felt pointed to the hub. Replaced it and all is good now.
The hub assembly is one unitized piece that is hard to inspect and is known for it's cost-effective production (not for it's durability - although you come across some that last a long time).
Thank you. Last night changed the hub *** out found that it was bad and also that the outer axle seal was gone so on my way home to pull the hub again and change the seal and the wheel seal also
So no luck the hub assembly is changed the outer axle shaft seal is changed and the wheel seal is changed all u joints are good from the front to the rear. Tire pressure is good. transfer and rear end fluid are changed. My next thing to look at is the trans, or more like the torque converter.
