Steering Stabilizer Relocation Kit

Ok yall, even with all that beautiful ground clearance under my Ex, I still managed to bash my stabilizer on the last day of my Elk hunt a couple of days ago.

I have searched here and found only one mention of a relocation kit, made by Rubicon Express. I sent a PM to the moderator who used the part, but want to know if anyone knows of other relocation kits for the Ex.

A Google search only pulls up stabilizers and lift kits. I have called BDS, Icon, Rough Country, and Rancho. None of them make a relocation kit for the Ex.

Part numbers would be appreciated, if anyone has them.

Thanks all!

Sorry I am of no help because I have never seen one "relocated" but I just had to say - Ben - you are hard on your trucks! Mine just breaks sitting in the garage - you break yours the honest good ole fashion way.

There are kits that I have seen for other trucks that rotate the stabilizer to on top of the drag link.

I have not seen anything like that for the Ex.

Yes, my new wife has mentioned this a few times in the less than 4 months we have been married.

As to breaking things the good old fashioned way, last time I went for a tire balance and rotation, one of the service techs at Discount Tire ran out and stopped me while I was pulling out... he wanted to thank me for using a truck for a truck and not just keeping it on the pavement. HAHAHAHA

I really do need to get some new pics of "Hulk" as he has now been named, so you guys can see how he sits with new springs and such.

I have decided that the only way I am going to get a stabilizer relocation kit is to have one fabbed up at a local off-road shop. While it is there, I think I will have them make up some anti-sway bar quick disconnects too. The wife already said she likes the idea!

I have been looking hard for a relocation kit as well. The stabilizer is in a terrible location. My conclusion was the same as yours; one will need to be fabricated. It is on the list of things to do this winter. I've been running without a stabilizer for months now but would eventually like to get one back on.

I know there's a certain kind of steering geometry setup that eliminates the need for a stabilizer... We used it on our Jeep daily driver/weekend warriors and it worked phenomenally, even with 37's on a little (ish) Cherokee. The name of the style completely escapes me right now. I know it was a much stronger setup as well.

Only reason I'm spitballing this is I know you use your rig offroad a LOT, so it might just make sense to upgrade to it.

With the 37s I am really pushing the upper limits of the factory power steering. Aired down to 17psi I have no steering on pavement unless I am moving. I would love to do hydro assist but the budget isn't there for it. Once the factory pump gives out (which might be soon because it is already whining quite a bit), I will probably spend the extra to upgrade a hydro setup.

For now, as long as I don't keep any worn front end components around, there is no need for a stabilizer. I just need to stay on top of maintenance and watch out for bump steer on the trails. Thumbs outside the steering wheel! Ha.

Amen to that. Learned that lesson the hard way my first time out seriously wheeling - NOT a fun time for a 17-yr old on summer vacation.

Hydro assist is definitely the way I'd go. Did full hydro homebrew style a few years back on my daily at the time. Totally forgot to think about a centering valve... HATED driving it on the street and was a little dangerous not having the wheel return to center. Ugh. Exhausting to drive too.

Glad to hear you use it like it should be used.

And cool - more stuff to break! Better post up some pics for us

Plus, a lot of places a full hydro system is not legal to run on the street.

As for a stabalizer, they are not that hard to relocate. You can have them mounted to the drag link instead of the tie rod. Than the other end to the engine cross member instead of the axle. Kinda like the 78-79 Half tons where.
