I bought an '86 F150. It's a beater but I got a good deal during a bad time. My wonderful machine was stolen and I needed wheels. Anyway, on the way home, I was on the highway and my engine lost power. I couldn't get past 50mph. Now the truck takes forever to get up to speed but it seems to idle okay once it's warmed up. My max speed is now about 45mph and then it starts backfiring. I've also noticed that if I have the gas pedal pushed down to a certain sweet spot the truck will go a lot better but anywhere before or after that one spot the truck will bug out.
Heya iamthebat,
Welcome to the forum.
As a friendly heads up, please take note that if you want help from others, you need to make it easy for them to help you. Many (who very well may have the answer you need) will simply pass on your post because they don't want to go through the work of figuring out what you're trying to say. A little effort in your writing can go a long way.
Either way, have you checked the timing on the engine?
Look around the engine bay to see if maybe a vacuum line disconnected.
Also, pull out your spark plugs and see what color they are.
A quick diagnosis can help us point you in the right direction.
