The wire is in the main wiring harness under the dash. It goes through the firewall and terminates at the plug for the "engine gauge feed harness". This is the harness that goes to the coil and the oil and temp sending units. It's a pink wire that has "resistor wire-do not cut or splice" printed on the insulation it's entire length.
In the pictures of my '73's harness, you can see the big insulated splice where the resistor wire ties into the wire that goes to the ignition switch. The last picture is the plug that's in the engine compartment.
that is the one for the ignition right cause i got one at the parts store and its a smaller gauge than that one shown in your pic and i have found 3 in the harness so far
ok i find it it was the same wiire just doubled back in the harness it was broke where it was spliced in , must have broken it when putting the heater core this summer . thank you for the help

Yes, that's for the ignition. To locate yours, start in the engine compartment, look for the wiring harness that goes to the coil/distributor and the temp and oil pressure sending units. Locate the wire that goes to the coil and follow it back towards the firewall. Just before the firewall will be a plug, this is where the wire changes to a resistor wire. When you identify which wire it is, then you can do the repairs.
There are other resistor wires in the harness that are used for the charge system/instrument cluster.
What year is your truck? The "pink" resistor wire was used on points and condenser ignitions. I think the color changed when they switched to Duraspark (green?) but not 100% sure on that one.
