Question ? on shocks

i was looking at some shocks for my 78 bronco the rancho 9000

looking at the specifications rancho gave for my bronco with a lift

and it said that the shocks i needed were about 14 inches compressed and 22 inches extended

well i went out and messured the mounts and they are about 22
inches apart so that cant be right

about how much travel should you have above and below the stance on your vehichle

thanks

Jack the truck up til the springs have stopped expanding. Measure the gap between the mounts. There is your answer. I fyou have a set of shocks on it now that you feel may be too short, disconnect them first.

Should be short enough that they wont bind when the axle nails the bump stop. Might have to disconnect one side of the leaf spring or one of the coil springs to find this out.
