Question Radio compatability, hook up

Had a question, two parter: two and a half :]

1.Would a OEM am/fm radio from a 1994 bronco be compatabile with my 1982 bronco, wiring etc?

2. What gauge speaker wire should I get to hook up the speakers, in the doors and in the rear, Im not looking for nothing fancy just to get sound. Thanks for any suggestions, comments.

PS can anyone tell me the wire colors that I need to look for when hooking up the radio, when I bought my bronco it came without a radio

Check Install Doctors www.installdr.com they will at least have the wiring color code. I don't think you can just hook things up though. The plugs are different I think for 1990s versus early 1980s.

Good Luck,

That link is pretty good. If you want to run your own wires to the speakers 18ga is fine.

One other thing. The newer, 90s Fords had floating grounds on the speakers. The older Fords didn't. The systems are not directly compatible and you might blow up the amp. There is a decent article about this on Install Doctors.
