[QUOTE=deerefarmer2;14759742]I hate to tell ya but it did happen, I did good to get 11 mpg with the dpf and now it ranges from 16.8 to 17.3, don't know how but I've did the math after a fill up and its dead on. I can post a picture of the dash if you want. It will be interesting to see what aphotic26 gets. Please let us know.

I like this site because you get "honest" information for the newbies and guys looking to learn more... your saying you gained over 6 miles per gallon to your truck just by deleting it??? Now your offering a photo of the dash... <~~~ you mean the lie-o-meter???.. maybe I missed it do you have a 2wd ext cab 6.4 with 18's on it?? maybe then you would be close to getting what your saying in the city which is stop and go... There's hundreds of threads on guys that have gained 1-3 mpg and obviously a little higher with hwy driving... my truck got 16 mpg and I was ecstatic!!! the other day on the interstate... just don't like mis-leading threads

FWIW Just bought Tuner & DPF Delete Pipe

I just purchased an exhaust pipe from Rudy's diesel, and I found a tuner on Ebay that will work. 7015 SCT X4 Power flash programmer, and I got it for $330. It's not the really nice expensive ones but for a basic driver like me I think it should do just fine. I'm using my 2008 F250 for towing a 24 ft cargo trailer with household goods for my moving company. Now I just need to find someone who can install the pipe for me.

I have gotten 15mpg's driving my service truck in Indiana. A lot of flat land up there. But down here in Northern Ky, it's closer to the 11-12mpg's. A lot of hills.

Gearbox Z DPF-R +10!
I like mine. Very easy to install. 1-2 mpg increase, depending on right foot. I believe it's more responsive, but probably due to removing restrictions from the exhaust and above all NO REGENS!
Todays 366 mile trip from So TX @ 24.9 gals hand calc = 14.698 mpg
98% hwy 65-80 mph previously would have been 12-12.5 mpg. Lie-O-Meter mileage was 16.6 mpg.... it still lies.
BTW 2qts 2-stroke and 1 Diesel Kleen.

I have no idea if it made a difference but at least I feel like it did.

Update:

So it's all installed and programmed.

My truck is idling at 1000rpm like it's warming up in cool weather, any ideas?

Did you replace the EGT sensors with new or re-use the originals? If you re-used the originals you probably have a bad sensor. Usually it's the rearmost one. I replaced all of mine so I could leave the originals in the original pipes in case I ever had to return everything back to stock. The 3 EGT sensors cost me $63 each at my local Ford dealer.

I believe I damaged bank 2 and 3 sensor, I will have it replace them. When I replace them should the idle come back down to normal?

If it only does it went it's cold is proably the cold idle strategy tuning in the PCM

The cold idle kicker strategy provides an increase in idle speed during cold engine warm up. During extended idle conditions, the PCM increases engine speed up to 1,100 RPM (normally 725 RPM for manual, 650 RPM for auto) to achieve a faster engine warm-up. The PCM uses the engine oil temperature (EOT) sensor input and adjusts the RPM accordingly, to a maximum of 1,100 RPM.

Replacing damaged sensors should bring the idle back down to normal. You may have to clear codes, though.

When my truck is cold it starts at normal idle, it starts to ramp up 1000rpm automatically to get warm. When I start it up now its right at 1000rpm and Ill drive for a bit and stop, still high idle.

I will know tomorrow when I have my sensors in, I have a reader to delete codes too hopefully all goes well. I will update info when I pick up the sensors.

Glad the idle issue is taken care of. As to the transmission shifting, the programmer didn't do anything to the transmission strategy. It's still all factory Ford. You can drive it some in Tow-Haul and see if things change. It's possible the transmission may need to be looked at. Any competent transmission repair shop can get any codes that might be stored pertaining to the transmission. Occasionally my transmission shifts like that between 2nd and 3rd. But I notice it when I'm really light on the throttle and when the truck isn't totally warmed up.
