Ok so I bought this 95 bronco a few weeks ago. I was told it needed a new rear end ( differential was out) so I replaced the rear end and put on a shifts cable. Truck still won't start from the key ignition. I bypassed at the selenoid and the engine runs great. So I found out that the wiring is a mess. I took out the steering column and need a new one. So question is. Why won't the truck start from the key? Transmission will only go into reverse. Do I need a rebuild? What is the best and cheapest way to go about getting this bad truck back in the mud!!!!! Help
get another column in there as the ignition may be hosed from the sound of it. not sure why a rear end would be related to the vehicle not starting. Although it will have an impact on how the trans operates. You did install a similar year 8.8 rear diff correct?
Wow. Bro... Everything is too much to ask... however it does sound like you have an ignition switch problem. I wont pretend to know how to fix it because anything past carbureted systems scare me, but I would maybe recommend to just wire past your key ignition and put in a push button start. Many people prefer them in the first place and its easy to do if you can already start it from the solenoid. If you are really concerned about restoration than maybe not but if you just got that itch to go wheelin right away than I think that would be your best bet.
