EGR Replacement Problem
I have a 99 Expy with a 5.4. A couple of weeks ago I listed a thread about getting codes 401 & 402 (EGR related problems). 37 reviews but no replies, so I decided I'd replace the valve to see if that might clear it.
I have a few tools and try to do basic maintenance and repairs on my car and truck, I thought the EGR replacement looked fairly simple. Unfortunately, while attempting to remove the front mounting bolt on the EGR, it hung up, twisted in half, and broke. Now there's only about 1/8" of thread exposed.
Does anyone have any tip or suggestion for removing the remaining broken bolt? There's not room to get at it with an E-Z-Out. Would the intake have to be removed, or would pulling just the throttle body give access? I hate to think what it would cost to have it towed to a shop plus the labor, but I also don't want to make matters worse.
I would certainly appreciate some advice from anyone who is knowledgable about working on the 5.4.
Thank You
