FE cam retainer plate

FE cam retainer plate
It appears that the retainer plate can only go on one way and keep the opening on center with the camshaft bearing bores. This put the grove at about 10:00 facing out. This is how I foud mine installed on my untouched 352. The groove, in the cam bearing, faces out as well but doesn't line up with the groove in the retainer plate. Maybe the cam bearing is wrong? All the other cam bearings are fed oil from the top except the front one. Maybe the fornt bearing is installed wrong?
