I know the dealer wants $129 for one, I took mine off and cleaned out the carbon slugde so that the piston operates now. Mine had frozen up, runs like a dream now. (97Explorer)
I take it you are referring to the 4.0. The 96 5.0 does not have a DPFE sensor - it has an internal EGR on the intake elbow. Didn't want you looking for it if you have the 5.0...

What part do i need?
I was told to get the sensor that mounts on top of the EGR Vale.
I NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT PART I NEED. THE PART I BOUGHT MOUNTS TO THE BACK OF THE EGR VALUE.
I AM NEW TO THIS SO BARE WITH ME.
THE Part number (Motorcraft #F2ZZ-9G428-B)
WILL THIS SENSOR TURN THE CHECK ENGINE LITE OFF?
