Is there any way to bypass the integrated brake controller or to take it out of the abs system. I haul heavy loads daily and if a wheel on the truck slips and turns on the abs system the trailer brakes are cut by 90%, and through the light or stop sign you go. They wont come back until your foot is of brake pedal for a second and a half. I have ask the dealers and called Ford and they say the same thing, it's a safety feature and they can't by pass it. Reasoning like that is why their trucks are so bad and have so many problems.
The trailer is in line with the truck brake system. Giving everything ABS. Keeps the trailer in its proper place...behind the truck. It is a good thing.
If you need more braking then I think you should check the gain, check the brakes on the trailer and see if that is your issue on why you need to stand on the truck brakes so much.
Also there is always the manual slider. You can always reach over and manually engage the brakes.
If you're tripping the ABS and causing wheels to lock up when you come to a stop you are either waiting too long to hit the brakes forcing you to apply them harder or something is out of adjustment.
Like Senix said, check TBC gain, and trailer brakes. Adjust things as necessary so you aren't having to hit the trucks brakes so hard.
You two must be light duty truck people and never hauled a heavy load in rain or snow. I have checked everything out and everything is good. I have 16 trailers some 2 some 3 axle, I haul up to 10 ton's sometimes and yes it will trip the abs when front wheels hit a tar strip or bump causing me to loose 90% of my trailer brakes. If my trailer brakes weren't working or bad I wouldn't notice the difference but they are good so I do. And No this isn't a good thing. Light duty haulers don't have to hit the brakes as hard, When you are hauling a heavy load you do have to hit the brake harder. I was just looking for an easy way to put a manual brake controller on, maybe hook into existing wires. As a certified diesel Mechanic of 30 years I can run new wires and bypass it.
