No such thing as a roller head.

Both motor can use the same castings, with late model motors.. those from the late '70's on up these motors wore the same heads in any given year, so yeah you could put heads from a 351 on your motor but it's generally a complete waste of time. The only head that is a real upgrade from a stock head is a '90's vintage GT40.. casting numbers F1ZE, F3ZE or F4ZE found on the Explorer/Mountaineer and Cobra Mustang.

Not lookin for power or upgrading hp. Just looking for quicker fix. I only use truck to cruise in an light work. And sorry bout the roller heads thing. I have a 91 roller 302 but the heads arent any good on it. But anyways I can pull the heads off a 351 and theyll work? Cause I need to go get the heads on my 71302 machined and I can find 351s all over the placecheapers then getting my heads machined.

So you want heads for a '91 302? If so then any '87+ 302 or 351 truck motor has the exact same E7TE casting on it.

Honestly unless your in a bind and just need to get it running again I'd try and find a set of GT40 heads and put in the mix while you are at it. They will give you some extra power and in a truck even for light work and cruising a little more power goes a long way in making the truck better running and more fun to drive in general.

I am in bind. My 71 seems to be getting weaker with the burnt valve and all but two cylinders are low compression. So im just trying to get truck back on road honestly. And no I dont need heads for the roller. Need for my 71 nonroller. I just wasnt sure if 351 and 302 heads would interchange.

Oh, Well that motor should have the C9 or D0 heads which most closely resemble the F3ZE GT40 head with it's 60cc chambers and 1.84/1.54 valves but.. these early 351 heads had extra intake bolts so if you were to install a later head you would have 2 empty holes on each side that you have to make sure don't create a leak. Of course if you add a later intake then that problem goes away too. Substituting an early 302 head could also be problematic as those had super small chambers so your compression would spike, and substituting a late model E7TE head will lower compression so in both cases you need to do both sides.

You would need bushings for your headbolts if you were to run 351 heads on your 302 block, Correct me if Im wrong Conanski, because 351s have bigger head bolt diameter(1/2") than 302s(7/16").

Yes, ^^^...this is correct. The difference between the 302w and 351w heads is the head bolt size as you state.

But this is only true on the 77-up heads. The earlier 351W heads had two extra intake bolt holes and slightly larger ports and valves.
