C6 Gear Linkage
I've searched on how to do this adjustment, but have heard mention of adjusting the threaded rod, which i can see under the brake booster, but I've also heard about adjusting a slider bolt, which i can't see. Would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks.
A tab on the shift lever fits up against an insert (aka detent aka shift gate) that is bolted to the bottom of the upper flange.
Over time, the individual gates on the insert wear down, so the shift indicator no longer lines up properly. The other problem is, the shift lever can pop out of Park into Reverse. Not Pleasant!
Here's a pic of the steering column, the insert is illustrated under basic part number 7A216
Its individual gates are located on its right side in the pic (which may be hard to make out unless you have a large screen).
If you decide to replace the insert (it's obsolete), there were two different versions used in 1969. To discover which is correct, I need the last 6 digits of your trucks VIN
The VIN is F10HCE40215 and if it's not too tough a job and I can find one, I will replace that part.

Don't know if either of the following sources will ship "across the pond."
NOS ONLY in San Jose CA has 1 = 800-667-6659.
This toll free phone number (won't work across the pond) is the only contact information listed. Go to rearcounter.com .. type in the part number, then you can send them an email.
HIGH BUCK! BOB ALLEN FORD in Overland Park KS has 3 = 913-381-3000 (boballenford.com).
This dealer is a snake, wants MEGA BUCKS for obsolete parts! I know the pound is worth more than a buck, but...
Trust me, that part will cost me more in total than it would you....even though the pound is strong against the dollar I will also have an insane shipping fee and then tax to pay when it enters the UK.....it's always a painful experience!
Also, although it's highly likely it is that part causing the issues, I'd like to try the linkage adjustment just for my own piece of mind and to see if I can get any improvement. But, what/where is the adjustment I need to make?
