SuperChip programmer problem

I have a 2001 F250 4X4 V10 code BET2 and have had a Superchips chip installed far about a year but every couple of months the truck wont start until I pull out the chip and wait a day to reinstall. I tried using the new superchips tuner to reprogram the computer but after it downloads OK it feels like it is running on 6-8 cylinders and wont get out of its own way. It idols very low and wont accelerate. If I put the chip back in it runs great for a couple of months till it decides not to start. The local dealer that has tried reseting the computer and has had no luck?

Any suggestions?

First thing, see if you can pull any codes with a code scanner from the computer.....

Then, with the chip:

Remove the chip. [b]Lightly[b] clean the connector with ammonia, contact clear or jewely cleaner. Leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes with the headlight switch turned on to reset the computer. Reinstall the chip.

Thanks for the reply

I have tried cleaning my chip contacts and have actually pulled the computer out of the vehicle to clean the contacts good but but I always reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and touching the leads together. I will try letting the headlights reset it.

The reason I bought a tuner was to try and get away from the chip fooling the computer and actually download a real program to it, but like I posted earlier it would not run right on the programmer.

I dont understand why it runs on the chip but not the programmer?

Thanks

For any light you can shed.

The chip doesn't "fool" the computer. It just supplies a ROM, no different than reprogramming the computer's ROM. Either way accomplishes exactly the same thing without tricking the computer.

The chip and programmer don't have the same exact tuning. V10 programming with some codes has been hit and miss. Also, remember that it can take 100+ miles and several key cycles for the computer to settle its new base line ignition curves and shift patterns. If in doubt, call the dealer you got it from.
