Little Bit-O-Progress

Haven't posted much lately. Just watching and an occasional smart-a$$ comment to add to the levity...

Here's a few shots from this last weekend. As I get ready to install the front-clip, I question why there isn't some sort of rubber pad between the radiator support and the frame? I'm going to be using a Dodge Truck radiator hard-mounted between the support.

No rubber pad ? - Really ? '49 F1

Makes sense - Thanks. Guess I was looking in the wrong page. I noted that the other years showed them in the exploded view. I think I even looked for them in various catalogs and while they were listed for 51s etc., I found nothing for '48-'49 as I recall.

I suppose the springs and such are essential as well. I'll investigate.

Check this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post14196807

For many years the bolts and springs were not available, people just used carriage bolts and old valve springs, but it appears they are available now.

Here's a thread with specs for the springs and bolts if you want to DIY (I probably would). https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...a-48-52-a.html

Been trying to find a replacement radiator for my 56. What Dodge radiator are you using?

Sorry for the delay. The part number to fit my '49 is likely not appropriate for a '56. I suggest you open a thread asking what others are using on '56s. There must be a gazillion folks that can provide real-world advice.

Check the US Radiator web-site. The on-line catalog provides dimensions. Once I nailed down the exact year/model, I then shopped a regular OEM radiator source as the prices are half the cost of the custom outfits.

Good Luck,

Dawgie

Thanks Dawgie. I've heard of guys using a Dodge Radiator on the 53-56 F100s and thought maybe yours was the one.
