Just joined this site in need of some major help. I have a 93 f350 2wd 5.8l. My problem is when cold the truck runs great after warm up it makes no power ie falls flat on its face until 3500 rpm and if your cruising at highway speeds and you give it slightly more throttle it starts to miss fire and buck. Now what's been changed new tps o2 sensor plugs cap rotor ignition module catalytic converter. Fuel pressure is good. Only code I was getting was a lean code which I took care of with the o2 but still have the same issue. All this started after my transmission went which has been replaced and also my gas mileage has gone from 12/14 to 8/9 since the issue started. This truck has nickel and dimed me since I bought it 2 months ago I am about to drive it off a cliff does anyone on here had this issue please help me keep my sanity
So you have no codes now just the all clear 11 or 111 codes?
Are there any engine bay noises that sound like an exhaust leak?
Is the smog(air injection) system completely intact? Partially removed"
The reason I ask about exhaust leaks and the air injection system is because the symptoms you describe indicate a lean condition and that is exactly what you get when there is a leak in the air injection plumbing behind the engine.. which will sound just like an exhaust leak.
I fixed all that when I had the trans out because I broke that valve behind the intake when I was getting the transmission out so all that is fixed and looking on the verus after the o2 it reads lean/rich at idle before the o2 it was stuck on open loop and constantly lean today it also started hesitating off the line after warm up too the funny thing is that if you leave the line with very light throttle it pulls the OK if you give it anymore there is no power idk me and two other tech's have been racking our brains on it and the one guy is a Ford guy and he said that the o2 was going to fix it and I think it got worse after it
A verus? Is that some sort of data logger? If so and if you can read water temperature from the computer, take a look at that.
What color ignition module did you put in?
Are you SURE it has 35+ PSI fuel pressure at full throttle?
What happens to the ignition timing (can your verus module read it?) when the truck starts running like crap? SPOut connector is installed, right? Verify with timing light as well.
I had similar symptoms to the ones you're describing. My truck would miss and shudder occasionally until I got to higher rpm's, then it would be fine until I tried to give it more foot, then it would shake violently until I eased off it. It was also bad at really low rpms, like when slowing down or in traffic
A buddy of mine suggested it was probably ignition related. My plugs were new, so i went out one night after dark and started it and looked at the plug wires. At first i didn't see anything but i could hear a *tick tick tick*. Then I saw it-one of the wires was cracked and shorting against the valve cover. New set of wires and shes running like new again!
I was going to put a set on this weekend but didn't get around to it. It did cross my mind that the wires could be bad but why would it not do it when it's cold too?
So after all the testing and mayhem it was the spark plug wires truck is making power again and no bucking it still runs like crap at start up but I'm wondering that I might have a leaky injector have to leave the fuel gauge on it and see
