ZF 5 speed dumb question

ok so dumb question.. does the ZF 5 speed 4x4 tranny from a 7.5(460) work with a 7.3 diesel?? if not is there maybe a bellhousing adapter or something of the sort?

Bell housing pattern is different. And the gear ratios are different. There are other post out here about ways to adapted it to a 7.3

You can drill the bell housing on the 460 zf5 to fit the 7.3

This is a 7.3 trans drilled to a 460. It works both ways. Gear ratios are a little different, lower first and reverse.

Look for a '95 and up -47 gearbox.
They are better able to handle the torque of a diesel.

Still, the wide ratios of a gasser ZF are not optimal for your 7.3.
