Hello, I have a 2012 F250 with 21,000 miles. Over the last 6 months, I have had 5 or 6 instances where Im driving and barely on the accelerator and the engine or transmission shakes or vibrates violently. Its happened at around 40mph and 70mph. It seems like the engine is not getting the right amount of fuel or maybe its the transmission stumble or shake that I have heard about. It is a fast back and forth of either the engine knocking or gasping or its the transmission. It can be very bad.
I went to the dealer and of course, there were no thrown codes on the pcm. They did the reflash and 20+ miles of driving and said there is nothing wrong.
Last night, I was on a country road at about 40 mph and it happened again. If I press the accelerator down harder, I will stop. If I keep the accelerator at the same spot, it seems like it would just knock, or shake violently forever.
Do we think this is an engine issue or a transmission issue? Anyone had something similar.
ITs not a slow back and forth of the transmission like Ive seen in older cars. IF it is the tranny, its happening really fast..if not, its maybe the engine?
I cannot tell or dont have enough knowledge to know if its an engine prob or transmission. I just know it sounds and feels like the world is ending and the shake, knock and vibration is going to tear the truck up..
PLEASE HELP!!!!! I DO HAVE IT ON VIDEO I JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO POST IT.
My 2012 did it at the start of an active regen. The dealer couldn't identify the problem. There's a TSB for the fix. Left bank valve job.
Lastwagon, did you have the work performed? If so, how did it go? I have experienced this problem at the beginning of active regents before but now it happens very rarely and I'm not sure I want them tearing into my engine. My last truck had head gaskets replaced by Ford before I bought it, and they tore up all kind of stuff in the process. Little things like clips and mounting brackets and bigger things like rung off valve cover bolts. I have gotten to where there's nobody that I trust to do a quality job.

I learned about the TSB (previous post) after I had taken it to the dealer. Strangely the problem subsided for months and I thought maybe mine was a different issue that went away. It came back with a vengeance however and was worse than before. By then I was nearing the 3yr/36k mark so I went to the same dealer and suggested I might consider a trade on a 2015 rather than deal with the major repair. They allowed me a good trade-in and now the truck is theirs. Since it was warranty it was no loss to them. Everybody's happy.

Hi yendor0801,
I want to get this into the hands of your regional customer service manager. All I'll need to make that happen is a PM from you with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.
I recommend editing your public post to remove your private information. Send me a private message (PM) with that information and I'll be happy to assist. If you prefer, you can contact our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673; they can offer the same assistance that I can.
i have not visited the 6.0 forum, but I think would be scared too....
At this point Ford is doing: only valves and the new program. hopefully this fixes the problem
