Interesting. I don't know how practical it is for a truck in NJ. They brine the streets as a preventative all winter long. I'd have to turn on my outside water and get under my truck to apply it very often. In addition I'd have to turn-off and drain my water lines when done every time I use it.
I can see where it might be better suited for it's fair weather marine application.
well, the video shows how the treatment of metal with salt away protects the metal......so not sure if after every salt exposure a reapplication is immideately needed. the video shows two iron nails. one treated with salt away , the other not. both were placed in ocean water for a few days. the nail treated with salt away was fine. the nail not treated, had corrosion and the water had turn brown from the corrosion.
a gallon cost 50 bucks. it took to 2 quarts of water to power wash my truck, engine area, outside, and under chasis. the amount of salt away needed was about 8 oz's. There is 128 oz's in the gallon. so enough to wash the truck 16 times. so about 3 bucks per treatment.
I have what loops like a miniature push broom with wheels. 5 nozzles point upward. So attach the want to the power washer and push the wand around under the truck and the truck gets a very good chasis bath. change the want back to the normal power washer wand and I can do the bed, outside of body, and engine area.
hardest part is setting up the power washer.
would love to use some oil, but the neighbors would flip and call DEP.
ive seen this in cabelas this summer, they didnt have the applicator or anything like that. I might get a setup for my new Tracker Grizzley for when i go flounder fishing in the summer, cant have salt in there since shes all welded up
bought one of these and used it with my harbor freight 212cc gas pressure washer. a couple gallons per minute so it does a great job spraying the under side. I notice 2 side plugged holes so I bought a second one to get 2 more nozzles and did a swap. so the one Im using now has 5 nozzles. still does a great job with the HF pressure washer. So I applied the salt away with this on the underside, and the standard wand in the engine compartment, wheel wells, radiators, bed, and body. I put some in a pump up spray bottle at the right mixture and pulled door caps and shot some in all my doors. the video with the nail demo gives me a feeling that this will provide some protection and would be easy to use for a quick after road salt exposure rinse off. 3 bucks per wash seems economical enough. I would l love to do the oil thing since I have 10 gallons of used oil, but no place far enough from the eyes of neighbors to try that and a few drop of oil is all that it would take for my good buddies to file a DEP complaint.
