I have recently purchased a 2001 F250 Crew Cab Lariat with shortbox.
Upon closer inspection, found all the bed struts are rotted away, and the bed is rusting through. I decided a new box is the easiest way.
My question is what year boxes are candidates to replace my 2001?
I heard 1999 to 2011 but what about past that? Will a 2015 work?
I am having a tough time finding any short boxes. Seems to be plenty of long boxes though.
99-07 direct for and look 08+ has different body lines. A few months ago our ford parts rep quoted a new short box with tailgate around $1600. Not bad considering takeoff a run around 1200. Of course then you have paint which can be spendy.
Unfortunately it has eaten through the bed in the bottoms of the QP's and there is some rust behind the wheels on the quarters as well.
Otherwise I would fix it. But I think with it the way it is, would be cheaper and faster to replace with a newer clean shortbox. Preferably a takeoff as it is white.
I did not know you could order a new one that cheap. I will definitely look into that!
