Got a different instrument panel and the lights are not working. The plug on old one has same amount of wires but is smaller than new one. New one has three wires that r different color than what truck has. Yellow/ black tan/black and red. The rest if wires were same color as truck.
Are the instrument clusters identical, if not, they are not swappable.
No one the one from the truck was just warning lights. The new one is gauges and lights. The gauges work the blinker lights work. The seatbelt light works but. The illumination lights do nori had to swap plugs out.
I just did a full instrument cluster swap in my 72 F100. I had to change the wiring harness to make it work. Found a good used one reasonable on Ebay.
Try taking out the bulbs, clean the circuit board where the lights
go with an eraser and try swapping the bulbs from your old cluster. Also check your fuses.
I just read that the gauges work so probably your harness is ok.
Check both gauge clusters and make sure the light traces on the circuit boards go to the same pinout on your connector.
Find where the circuit board lines from the cluster lighting go. Check with a multimeter on the corresponding pins on the harness connector. If they are on the same pins as the cluster and have voltage that varies from 12vdc to 0 when the dimmer switch is turned the harness is ok. It could be your light switch as well. Swapping the harness is a big job. Make sure it has to be replaced first.,It could be something simple. If the gauges and signals work. Your harness is most likely ok.
