You are looking for a brand new S10 T5? There are plenty of places that sell new ones including GM, but they are not cheap 1200- 1500.00! I've been pleased with GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts for heavily discounted genuine GM parts.
Are you going to use it behind a stock engine? (flat 6 or V8) There are other models that can be used, if you do a websearch you will find lots of info about them. Here's one of the best for Flat V8's: Technical - TRANSMISSION - T5 Tech Links | The H.A.M.B.
And this is an alternative to the S10 for getting a shifter in the right place:
Thank You for the info. I went to the Turlock swap meet on Sunday 10/5/2014 and found a guy that has new and used T5s, plus the flathead to T5 adapter and a good design for the shifter extension. I will meet with him this week and become a lot more broke. I have a flathead V8 with the 4 speed and so I will need to get the flywheel drilled, but can use the 5/8 adapter and probably a 9" clutch set up. I am too old and cheap to try and spin tires, so that should be fine.
Hello Bald Mustang....I didn't see your earlier posts, so welcome to the forum. We'll need to see pics of your trans setup!!
You should also dig into the posts from Bryan in Colorado (username Brain75)....he went through the T5 setup a couple of years ago. I think he researched more than most and came up with parts lists, adapters, shifter placement...pretty much everything.
Read the link that Ross listed above. Flat Ernie on the hamb has lots of great info. The T5 tranny is a great option for our trucks, even if you're running a late model v8. I'm very happy with mine.
Thanks everyone. I did check Brian's info and copied it off for the file. I will try pictures as the project moves forward. I am ready for media blasting and paint. hope to have drive train done and frame done by time everything comes back.
We just had my son's 66 Mustang painted black & gold at Miracle in Pleasanton CA. It looks great and that is where the truck is headed. I had a 65 convertible painted in 2007 and it still looks good. Not show quality, but very nice.
