Hey thanks for the lead, I will contact them as soon as I can. I was also given another suggestion from a Ford dealer hear in southern Ontario Canada, Green Sales Company in Cincinnati Ohio. Not sure if you heard of them or not, but they also carry obsolete parts for cars as well as trucks. The only thing is, you have to know your Ford part #s to search through their data base. I also will try to contact them as soon as I can as well as post some pictures of the old girl. It will be on the road soon, but with more work to be done.

Welcome to the board!!

There's a member here named NumberDummy who is an old Ford parts guy. He's a genius with old Ford part #'s. If he finds this thread he'll chime in, if not you might try searching for his name and sending him a message.

Have you thought about an aftermarket boot? I've been trying to find something that would work for my 67 Jeepster Commando, right now I just have some old pieces of innertube around the holes.....ugly

Good luck
Bobby

Hey Bobby, thanks. I have thought of an aftermarket boot but thought I would try to get a repo or something as close to original as possible first. If not, then an alternative it is. Just trying to keep her original as I can, with the exception of the wheel base shortend to 110" to accomidate a 53 stepside box.

Book says B9C-7242-A but I bought a couple of boots awhile back that had a sticker number of B9C-7277-A from e-bay. The boot matches the bolt holes on the tunnel cover. and looked exactly like my old transfer case shift boot. Greensales had some of the B9C-7277-A. You would need your old steel plate to fasten it down to the floor or make one out of sheetmetal. I bought a boot at Greensales but haven't received it yet. Anxious to see if the boot is the same. Cost was $30. Mark is real helpful.

Great pics of your truck. Where did you get your shock absorbers at? Do you have a part number and brand? Appreciate it. Let me know if the boot fits. I have a 60 ford 3/4 ton 4x4. Let me know if I can be of help.

Hey Idaho thanks, I will get a hold of those guys when I get a chance. I do have the mounting plate. As for the shocks, I asked my friend that I bought it off and he said that a mutual friend of ours who is a mechanic put them on. We both figure that they were purchased at a local auto parts store. CAR QUEST or NAPA. I got my carb rebuild kit for the Holy thats on it and all of my other ignition stuff. I bought the truck just over a year ago and all the big work had already been done... body and paint, engine had been freshened up and a new clutch I believe. Was left with some of the more aggrivating things like the wiring whitch was rough, some mechanical and a host of other small time consuming odds and sods. The body and paint is over 10 years old and still looking good. Soory if I couldn't help you out much as I have found that for 1960 4x4 not alot is listed in the aftermarket.

I received the boot today from Greensales. The boot fits perfectly. So this should work for your transfer case shifter. Good luck.

Thats great to hear because I just ordered one today. Thanks again for the tip and they were very helpful. Have you made any progress on the shocks for your truck?

About the shocks, not really. I bought some new ones awhile back but not heavy duty like I want. I will keep my eyes open. Let me know when you get the boot and how it fits. I am working currently on putting some new front springs on. Very expensive but need them.

4 Speed Shifter Cane Boot?

Ken,

Does your truck have a boot around the 4 speed trans stalk? I'm restoring a 1960 but from the wear marks on the floor steel, there is only a round wear mark on the trans (bottom) side of the floor. It kinda looks like a donut maybe. My transfer case hole has remnants of a shifter boot and ring. There aren't even any holes around the trans hole to fasten down a boot of some sort. What are you doing for the shifter hole?
Incidentaly, my old 4X4 1962 F100 has a boot that encompasses both the transfer case and trans shifter in 1 assembly.

Hi all,

I talked to a friend of mine with several 4X4's and he said they all have the foam donut.
Anyone know of a source for replacement parts?

Nick

I now have my transfer case shifter boot. Looks good and fits perfect. It is now safetied and appraised. Just waiting on insurance, plates and the old girl is back on the road. As for my transmission boot, there was already a new one fitted. The after market shows that they are availible. My truck also has the donut, looks original and helps hold the boot firmly in place. As for a replacement for the donut I have no idea. Thought about that myself, but if I had to, I would use a thick piece of foam such as upholstery foam. It should be up high enough to stay dry for the most part. Maybe locate some other material that has a higher density. My transfer case hole has 4 outer bolt holes around it which match my mounting plate and boot. I have quite a few photos in my gallery, just added some of that donut and transfer case boot. To look at them I think you just click on my avatar and scroll down to album and click 1960 F100 4x4. When I get a chance, I will do some more digging myself concerning the donut. Kinda currious myself. Let me know how you make out and what you come up with if you find something.

Glad the transfer case shifter boot works. About the ring: On a 4 speed the shifter case would have a steel ring positioned on it then a sponge rubber on top of it. I have seen original ones glued to the steel ring. Then the metal shift cover plate snugs up on top of it. I just cut some water resistant sponge rubber approximately the same thickness and glued it on the metal donut and it works fine. I haven't seen store replacements. Upholestry or industrial material supplier should have some. Good luck.
