PO156 = leak?

PO156 = leak?
Hi I have a 99-4.6, 4x4. My light went on and it is a PO156. Oxygen sensor bank 2, sensor 2. Can that be caused buy an exhaust leak that just started before the light went on? The leak is on the passenger side near the front. Or is it actually and O2 sensor? Is bank 2 the passenger side? Thanks for any help.

No it's an electrical issue. Either the sensor is no good or the wiring to it has a break somewhere. BTW, the B2S2 O2 sensor is on the driver's side after the catalytic converter.

Thanks for the reply and good info. The light was on for a few days. It went off tonight. I will check the wiring underneath. I put in some new brake lines underneath last week and might have done something to the wires. If I can't find anything I think I will replace the sensor.

That post cat sensor determines if the O2 content is correct, determining if the cat is good. In your case, the code indicates it's a lean condition so the cat is still good. The voltage at the sensor is too low, prompting the code. Your leak is on the opposite side which could normally prompt this code but not here.
To alloro's point, it sounds like a bad connection or faulty sensor. It's not near any brake lines so not sure that would affect this.
